You will need to build rooms to keep your monsters safe and healthy.
You can start planning building rooms even before you have enough resources to build them: the monsters will automatically start building when the resources become available.
Building a room is done in 2 steps:
STEP 1: Place the items to build on the map (use the CONSTRUCTION button)
CONSTRUCTION/ROOM contains the elements to build a room (floor, walls, doors)
CONSTRUCTION/[ROOM NAME] contains furniture to add to the rooms.
STEP 2: Assign monsters to the task of building the room (use the TASKS button)
Monsters can be assigned more than one task. You can use the PRIORITY slider in the TASK window to assign more than one task to each monster: they will work on the tasks going from left to right, so for example if BUILDING is first and CHOP WOOD is second, the monster will build anything that needs to be built and then move to chopping wood. When there is no wood left to chop they will become idle until you select more wood resources to chop, or until you assign them another task.
Each item to be build requires a certain amount of resources, which is shown on the screen.
The monsters will automatically start building as soon as you assign them the task. If they are not moving they may be finishing a previous task, just wait a couple of minutes and they will start on their own.
Each room must have a floor, a wall and at least one door. When they are built, rooms are generic and can be used for any purpose. The first piece of furniture you build in the room will determine the type of room. Room types cannot be changed unless you remove all the furniture that is in it.
To remove an item that is built or in the process of being built:
- Left click on the item (a recycling icon appears)
- Left click on the recycling icon
- If the item was already built then it will be turned back into a pile of raw resources that can be used again. If the item was not built yet, then the building will be canceled.
To give your monsters a fighting chance, you should start by building a Bedroom, a Home Office and a Kitchen.
See the Room section for further information.
